In case you haven't read about it, there were rumors circulating the internet saying that Avril Lavigne's The Best Damn Tour in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has been canceled. Then today, Malaysian government officially said that the concert will goes on as planned if only they have a valid permit for doing that. The same excuse was being used to Inul Darasita’s (a dangdut’s superstar) supposed to be concerts. Both her concerts were canceled in a short notice. And of course, she cried and fainted when she heard the news. I am sure she would not come to Malaysia for quite sometimes after this. Oh, there is also lots of fuzz when Beyonce changed her tour from Malaysia to Indonesia while Christina Aguilera skipped Malaysia on her Asia tour schedule. Gwen Stefani has to ‘tune’ down her clothes and the Malaysian organizer was fined RM10, 000 (USD2, 857) after the U.S. girl group was accused of flouting decency regulations.
After reading comments circulating in the websites from whether foreigners who never even come to Malaysia and from those who said they are from Malaysia, I feel quite ashamed and embarrassed. For what reason was other people have the right to blame other country for practicing and preserving their culture? Oh hell, who am I bluffing? Before I continue my rambling further, let me point out several factors for you to decide whether or not the government should cancel Avril Lavigne’s concert:
Why Malaysia Government SHOULD CANCEL Avril Lavigne's Concert:
1. It is morally incorrect to invite Avril Lavigne and her immoral behaviors who one said may or may not include ‘jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage’ – which was ‘refrain’ illegal in Malaysia. Malaysia also requires all the performers to wear clothes without obscene or drug-related images and to be covered from the chest to the knees.
2. Malaysia's Independent day is coming up on 31st August. It seems improper that close with the day our nation celebrates its 51st independent day, we celebrate it with a concert from foreigner artist!
3. For God sake, who watch Avril Lavigne anymore? If Perez Hilton spoke the truth, Lavigne’s concerts and album did not sell well in US. Nevertheless, Lavigne told MTV News on Thursday that she plans to put on a good performance for her Malaysian fans. "I've already sold 10,000 tickets there, so I will be going to put on a concert for the fans," Lavigne said in the interview, posted at mtv.com.
Why Malaysia Government SHOULD NOT CANCEL Avril Lavigne’s Concert:
1. We need this kind of tourist attraction. People are willing to spend times and money for their favorite artists. If this problems continue, I am sure other international artists will skip our country on their Asian tour
2. There are lots of other sources that will affect youngster’s moral values. For example, internet and those entertainment channels. Well, like ASTRO (the only Satellite TV provider in Malaysia) motto, “The best seat is in your house”. We should all enjoy and relaxing while watching all the half naked ladies in those video clips
3. Malaysia government should draw a clearer guideline for the performers to follow. For example, in Kelatan (one of the highly practiced Islamic values state ruled by the state government), they required the female performers to dress appropriately; wear a scarf or tudung. They also separated female and male audiences from mixing together. Not that I agree with their regulations, but I am not opposing either
The point is, we should have clear guidelines so that the performers will know what should be followed and what should not. If they do not prefer to abide it, they could just skip the country or state. There is less embarrassed rather than last minutes cancellation that surely will waste someone time and money. So, what do you think? Do you want to watch Avril Lavigne? Should her concert goes as planned? Do you feel pity with her? Well, I am pretty sure I am not having any sympathy to offer her. For one, she super duper rich, and I am not. Sigh. Oh, and I am not going to her concert either!

i hope the gov't wont make a last minute cancellation.. em.. does avril cries like inul? hehe
i'm not a big fan but i love her music. but i don't care bcoz i'm not going to her concert.
i like this topic blue,
but in the meantime.. i just going to wait for a while. see how others response to this issue. As for me, love her first album. so so for the second one.
Btw, hope you join the Hari Merdeka tag. huhu.
:)
the more the government is being pervert about everything, the public gets more eager. why must they treat the public like school children? we are smart enough to follow the good ones and ignore the bad ones. I love her music, and it will be a shame to cancel this concert. so pathetic of these 'kolot' minded people sometimes.
they don't have to ban these world class artists, they should see how 'well mannered' our local artists and celebrities are first. wait, let them check on the minister's children first too.
i guess, the local artists are also jealous about how they are not given as much attention. they deserve it anyway.
I dont like the pic, but as far as music is concerned.. they should be given a chance.. after all they've worked hard for it and they deserve it:)
Hi myadlan,
Thanks for commenting for the first time! I am always open to new readers :)
Anyway, back to the post, I also hope that government did not make any last minute cancellation. It just looks bad to our image

Hi Rizal,
I am sure will do the tag. I am more than happy to support my friends. *wink wink*. hehe. Don't worry, I have a plan for it :)
I hope you will be back here and comment further! hehe
salam haaziq,
interesting... personally for me, y bother trying so hard to win some votes by acting like a great stupid? we've been seeing worse on our telly so some concerts wont make anything worse or undo the damages that had been done... to those on top, pliz, stop being so pretentious... sian kat inul... n yes, i love her music too.. :)
Hi Farah Deen,
In my personal opinion, I do think that government should planned carefully and looks for a long future before making any decisions. The consequences may not be seen in short term, but it will hurt the most in the future
I think local artists are already starting to dress like the international superstars. Even some of them flaunt more than needed. And they free to do like that. I wonder whether it is a double standard or not. Yes, they all are adult, they could be dressed whatever they wanted, but if the law imposed to the international artists, it should be to our locals too!

Hi Nisha,
I am glad you are back. I hope everything is fine :)
I purposely chose these pictures. Of course they are many other pictiures showing her in more decent clothes
Hi Moeha,
Yes Moeha, I think the best way is to act more matured like Farah said, they should not try to act like we are some kind of school children. We could select the best and the worse ourselves. After all, we already independent for almost 51 years right?
Yes, sometimes brainless from Malaysia keep posting article or rumors about this lovely country badly. This will give us a negative picture. I hope they will get back their brain someday! Pretty sick and they really make me puke.
Sorry for being rude but they deserve any better words than this? Oh my…
P/s: I realize that you are using embedded comment method and can you find a script for editing comment like suituapui comment on wordpress? I guess that is the best way to reply a comment. Don’t you think so? :)
im not a avril fans myself but pls lah...
her outfit are not skimpy, or sexy like others. (xtina)
her songs are poppppy not sexual intended like others. (Janet)
her stage performance are jump jump only not sexy like others. (beyonce)
and how is she a bad influence? her music is so-so only. i still dun get it. and i agree with u, there are other media or sources out there *ahem* internet, where anyone can click and watch anything.
like u said, her sales in USofA are declining and now u decline her, where else she can get moooney to buy more tees and ties?
I don't really like her.She doesn't like and respect her fans at all.I heard there was once she asked her fans to F@#$ off when her fans look at her.I think,I mean Avril has good music, but I don't like the way she treats her fans like crap and she shouldn't still be singing after what she has done. She also looks extremely mean. And her temperament and personality sucks to a bad level too.I don't think she will respect our culture too.Malaysia Government should cancel her Concert.
Hi Faisal,
what do you mean by 'editing comment'? I did check suituapui's blog (nice blog anyway :), and saw that his comment system seems like mine too.. care to explain further? heh
Alo dude...
Hey ya the government kan bikin panas owh...
Suda la we had problems when Michael Jackson came and all.
Now lagi Avril... I mean come on la. Avril ja ba tu. She's not sexy or what. But maybe she'll do something like your pic that lah;D
Anyway,I really hope she'll do her concert... Even though I'm not going to see her but I'm saying this for other fans out there ya.
And I like her newest album. Okay juga kan...;)
Hi Faisal (again),
Just noticed that suituapui's blog owner comments are just after his blog readers comment. That is really nice. Wordpress could use the script like that, but I am not sure if Blogger could. At least, I couldn't found the coding yet :)

Hi Sweetiepie,
Oh, I forgot about that! I also have read the news. Plus, her fan club (I am not sure whether Lavigne herself was involved or not), has come out with a trick to get Lavigne's video the most played in You Tube. They open the page and then play it over and over again. It's a scam, but You Tube allowed it even though after being inform this 'cunning' activities to them (as they don't take any action about it)
Sometimes, people does everything to get famous, right? :D
Hi Bidarlah (sorry I missed out your comment earlier)
LOL. I am laughing all the way down after reading your comment. Hey, she did try to vamp herself up after being married. She starts wearing Dolce & Gabbana like this one and other high end fashion clothes (but I still find her looking tacky than sophisticated. Either way, she could use this concert money to pay for her new found clothes rather than tees and ties. hehe
Thanks for commenting me! I will link you up in my blogroll :D
BCD – Blogspot doesn’t allow comment editing like Wordpress. I have tried to search and googling around but didn’t find any solution. Please help… (There is only delete button but no edit button)... meaning... you can even edit people's comment. but that is the main reason i want to do so
Hi Arms,
Hehe.. Mau bikin panas aja. I am not sure I heard bout Michael Jackson in Malaysia. But, in this latest news I read, today (26.08.08), Lavigne's concert will goes on as planned which is on 29th August. Yeah, for a sake of her 10,000 fans out there who already bought their tickets, I am sure hope she will performs and perform well. The tickets are not cheap you know (cheaper than Celine Dion's ticket of course :)
=====
Hi Faisal,
Oh, I get what you mean. You want to edit other people comments, instead of just deleting it right? I never use the 'moderate comments' choice, so I don't know to assist you further in that, but I will keep my eyes open and will tell you if there is a code about it :)
Why you want to edit comments anyway? hehe
i agree to nisha the picture wasnt nice for avril i thought avril will not follow the path of what britney and kristina took
but i love avril and her distinct voice im a fan of her
i agree with Farah Deen, and your "should NOT cancel" points.
i'm not a fan of Avril but I like her song. I admire her for being talented, but i hope she's not using the reason (plus the fact that she's rich)as a license for being rude <---refering to sweetiepie.
wooot! deleted my comments hahaha! no worries!
yup! she did revamp or try to dress more lady-ish but like u said very rightly...hmm...need more work or better stylist.
She is ok i guess, some songs are better than others, ok fine...maybe just one or 2 songs lah.
I hv nothing against her or her music like i said previously. Just dun understand why the hoo-hah on her concert really. If the date is say 1st of Sept 2008, maybe there wont be such a big fiasco in the papers.
keeping it short and simple, the concert must go on :) kan bluecrystaldude kan kan kan.
Hey! Mate, thanks for stopping by my site..
Avril's show must go on...
But she need to leave the pentagram on the US soil..
Oh..almost forgot..
I'm in Civil & Structural field :)
Hi Bluedreamer,
I am glad you are her fan too.. I think her music is 'okay', not bad, not good, just okay. I hate 'Girlfriend', but I love 'Hot' and 'The Best Damn Thing' is too self absorb. Who sang this?
That you're not, not, not, gonna get any better,
I'm a hell of a scandal, me, I'm a scene, I'm a drama queen, I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen!
Gosh, even I not like that.. Anyway, I still enjoy her music though. Hehe
P/S: For those who doesn't know, the songs stated above could be found in her latest album, The Best Damn Thing
Hi Mangosteenskin,
Yeah, she's rich, but rich people need to get richer right? May be fortunes and fame drown her in between. Artist who is rude with their fans never deserve their supports.
Hurm.. This make me think of a song by Eminem ft Dido - Stan
=====
Hi Bidarlah,
Yeah, may be she should change the date of the concert. It's really close with the start of Ramadhan (a fasting month for Muslims) and Malaysia's Independent Day..
*UPDATED* PAS youth wing will distribute fliers to the Malay crowd during the concert on how they should celebrate Merdeka and Ramadhan instead
Source: Malaysia Kini
=====
Hi Fara,
Hahaha.. Don't ask me when I am asking you the same question.. :P
Well, to be honest, I don't really think Avril Lavinge's concert should cancel, but it perhaps should be postponed to a better date. I don't think she will promotes a bad habits to youngsters too. I thought they already bad to begin with and there lots more other influential sources that could contribute in deteriorating the moral values of our youth
